Now I don't know if what I am about to narrate is actually a good thing or an embarrassing one. It is the gauge of my brain level. I am 34 years old but it seems to be that I have the same mind thinking of a 5-year-old kid who will be turning 6 in a couple of weeks.
I try to be creative on what games to play with my nephew. Today, I had a light bulb idea of doing a word game that I used to do during my younger days. Hangman --- do you remember this game? You slowly draw up the parts of your hangman everytime you miss a letter in guessing what the secret word is of your opponent. Well, it seemed like a great idea and now I am feeling maybe I am not that bright after all. Eeeekkk!!
My nephew and I got scraps of paper for us to play Hangman on. By the way, he calls it as "Ironman" instead, which he says is a hero, you know, from the movie of Robert Downey Jr.
On our first game, he was happy with the results because he won! Best of three, yes, he won! Do I have to emphasize it again? So yeah, can you imagine how that feels on my ego? Just kidding! Heheheheeee I am still on the stage, at times, of letting him win. But of course, my competitiveness does kick in sometimes too.
We then started to list down several categories so we can enjoy several rounds of this word game. Just simple, easy ones that he can easily spell out and logically analyze. It is good because as a young kid, it develops his thinking and literacy.
As the game progressed along, we both found it certainly amusing when we ended up with the same words for us to guess: Like in the fruits category --- Apple (the name of his loving Mama); for instruments it was drums, his was drum; then for birthday party stuff, we both got balloons, mine was balloon without the S; and for the category of the things that he likes to do, it is playing.
It was funny and interesting how we came up with the same words! I told him my punchline joke of me, his doting aunt, being 34 years old that thinks the same as him, that of a 5-year-old who will be joyously celebrating his 6th birthday very soon! I guess the joke is on me then! Hahahahahaaa!
P.S. "He's the overall champ!"
